PART TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Position Description
We are currently seeking an experienced, personable and highly motivated, Certified Pilates instructor to teach matwork and/or studio sessions in our fully equipped studio. Our physiotherapy practice includes a boutique Pilates studio for group, privates, and semi-private sessions.
This position involves assisting the centre’s patients in Pilates sessions, who have physical limitations brought on by disease, injury, disability, or aging, to enhance their health and quality of life. Knowledge is required in designing and evaluating exercise plans utilizing a range of adaptations and modifications to classical and evolved repertoire, in a variety of teaching skills, as well as relevant training in clinical settings which will be favourable.
We welcomeclents of all ages and backgrounds, including young children and the elderly. We also treat professional athletes and artists who have sustained vocational injuries or wish to develop their technique. Therefore, knowledge and understanding of selected sports and performing arts is also useful.
Our centre provides training opportunities for staff members, enhancing continuous professional development, through various learning programmes and mentoring, should you require further training in any of the assigned responsibilities.
Pilates Instructors must be open to working Saturday mornings between 8am - 12pm, and must be available to teach weekdays between 8am-12am and 3.30pm-7.30pm. Mid-day hours potentially available too.
This is not a complete description, and certain responsibilities may additionally be presented along the course of our collaboration:
•Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled private, semi private, or group class to prepare yourself, equipment, and the studio; and to check in client[s] for a positive and welcoming atmosphere and to make sure they are up to date on their packages.
•Gather information about the client's’ relevant medical history, present condition and risk factors, including a physical assessment and goal setting, during their initial session.
•Be responsible for documenting and safeguarding the information disclosed by the clients, your observations, as well as techniques and advice provided during your sessions.
•Plan, deliver and evaluate Pilates techniques to private, semi private, or group classes of all levels based on the client’s goals, strengths, and weaknesses.
• End private, semi private, or group classes on time and assist in cleaning and reorganizing their equipment to where it was before class.
•Develop positive relationships with private, semi private, or group class clients by teaching a variety of challenging, innovative, and effective exercises / sequences.
•Educate class participants and private clients on Pilates studio etiquette, correct form, modifications, and options for all participants, as well as offer verbal adjustments as needed. Hands on adjustments are based on your and the clients’ discretion.
•Attentively listen to clients, answer questions, and engage in conversation before and after classes and private sessions.
•Strive to keep clients accountable, consistent, and having fun while helping to build and retain business.
•Clean and organize the studio as needed before / after each group fitness class or private session. We require our studio staff to clean everything they touched after each session. You will assist in making sure this happens.
•Liaise with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, consultants, occupational therapists and social workers, to exchange information about the background and progress of patients, as well as to refer patients who require other medical attention.
•Keep up to date with new techniques and technologies.
•Be available for interprofessional learning, in-service training, as well as induction and learning of new methods and procedures.
•Supervise student and junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy support workers.
•Observe and assist other qualified professionals at our centre.
•Adhere and adapt to all current and new Central Balance policies, procedures, and initiatives.
•Report any unsafe conditions or situations that require attention immediately.

Skills and Qualifications
•Must be certified in Matwork with a minimum of +300 hours and/or all Pilates apparatus, and/or have completed a Comprehensive Pilates teacher training course with a minimum of +500 hours.
•Energetic, positive and motivational teaching style
•Capable of incorporating a contemporary/ therapeutic approach to classical exercises.
•Experience teaching a variety of clients in private, semi-private, and group sessions.
•The ideal applicant is a professional, punctual, and independent instructor who can confidently take on new classes and clients and can successfully maintain a client base.
